The Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam is the section of the Green River that is by far the most famous and for good reason. This section of the Green is loaded with fish, the population fluctuates but has been listed as high as 10,000 fish per linear mile and 7,000 fish per square mile! These are giant numbers, you almost can’t make a cast without floating over a trout. The average size also is very large, again it has fluctuated over the years as it is effected by a myriad of factors such as river flows, water temperatures, aquatic diseases, insect populations and more.

This section is divided into three sections until the Green River flows into Colorado. The sections are A section, B section and C section. The A section of the Green River begins as the river flows from Flaming Gorge Dam and ends 7 miles below at Little Hole where the B section begins. The B section of the Green begins as the river leaves Little Hole and ends around 8 miles or so lower in Brown’s Park. The C section of the Green River begins in Brown’s Park and ends near the Colorado border at Swallow Canyon.
